Rode Procaster, my new microphone

[ 0 ] 2010/06/08 | Simon Harris
I have been searching for a new mic for some time, to be used for voice over, narration, Skype, Podcasts that I am planning to do when I get some time so a few months ago I bought an MXL V69 Mogami vacuum tube mic and was actually a little disappointed in it, very good quality but picks up a lot of background noise, then last week I was pleased to find out a mic I already had is a classic, Sennheiser MD441 but it still wasn’t quite what I was looking for so I just took delivery of a mic that I am really impressed with, fully manufactured in Australia by Rode mics, the Procaster. It has similarities to the classic ElectroVoice RE27, similar size and sound, very well made too. They have a USB version called the Podcaster but this one (the Procaster) is black and aimed squarely at the broadcaster and voice over artist, it’s designed to pick up the spoken word, very good quality and priced at only $240. I have the shock mount, foam wind screen (a MUST) and a Heil Sound boom system.
